The FULL CNN Interview

This is unedited, quite a bit more explicit....

  1. Wow. I'm speechless. She wants us to act, but what can we do? I can see from listening to just this one report that this is going to become much worse before it gets better. People in power don't give it up lightly. I am in agreement with you that us going in there with guns blazing would only make matters much worse. And yet, it is difficult to stand by and watch and do nothing. Gut wrenching.

  2. Well, she's hysterical. You can't blame her. She just wants the nightmare to end. She's not thinking about the consequences of the US "doing something".

Right now, I think if Mousavi were to beg us to do something, perhaps we would. But even if some in Iran ask us to do something, that doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Notice that she spoke very good English. She was probably young, probably very well educated. She is probably very pro-West.

But not only do we not have the troops to spare to "do something", if we toppled the regime, the new regime would have no credibility. We toppled the democratically elected leader and installed a dictator in 1953 who was himself toppled in the 1979 revolution in Iran. Iranians simply don't trust us, and they have good reasons not to.

No, they need to be on their own. They need to do this themselves. Perhaps the UN could come in and save them, but it's honestly not bad enough yet. I know this woman's pleas make it sound like it is, but the UN can't dismantle governments because they cracked down on some protesters. If that's what the UN did, then most of the governments of the world would have to be removed, including our own. (Think 1960's and 70's.)

  3. Here's a good example of a completely ignorant view of the situation: http://reaganiterepublicanresistance.blogspot.com/2009/06/obama-blows-slam-dunk.html
Just read that and think: why is he wrong?
